Nursing faculty in curriculum seminar

Seventy participants from the USA College of Nursing attended a seminar entitled “Integration of Competency Standards in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Curriculum and the Nurse Licensure Examination Exam Framework” held on 22 September 2010 at the Boracay Function Room, Sarabia Manor Hotel in Iloilo City. The Augustinian delegation was headed by Sofia Cosette Monteblanco, RN, Man, dean of the University College of Nursing.

Hon. Amelia B. Rosales, a member of the Professional Regulation Commission – Board of Nursing (PRC-BON) was the keynote speaker. The distinguished speaker is former member of the National Task Force on Core Competency Standard Development. She discussed a lot of important points, among which are as follows: Core Competency Standard in PRC-BON Resolution 112 s. 2005; Core Competency Standard as Unifying Framework for Nursing Education, Regulation, and Practice; Strategies on Integration of the Core Competency Standards in the Nursing Curriculum; CHED Memo Order No. 14 s. 2009; and BON Resolution No. 18 s. 2006, which focused on the Professional Nursing Competencies during the Nurse Licensure Exam.

The said event was graced by the deans and full-time faculty members of the different College of Nursing in Western Visayas. On behalf of the deans of the College of Nursing, Dean Sofia Cosette Monteblanco, RN, Man gave her reflection at the end of the seminar.
The USA College of Nursing, having a total of seventy participants, was declared the college with the most number of participants during the said event.
